Professor Albert Zomaya received the Distinguished Engineer Grade, The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), USA. The Distinguished Engineer Grade recognizes those ACM members with at least 15 years of professional experience and five years of continuous Professional Membership who have achieved significant accomplishments or have made a significant impact on the computing field. Dr Michael Charleston and Dr Lars Jermiin were awarded a prestigious Australian Research Council Discovery Project Grant (DP0770991) to investigate the question of the origin and evolution of the major animal phyla, using novel analytical tools to be developed over three years.
